Tournament Rules and Regulations

  • All divisions play 4 (25 minute) games. No half time.
  • Central horn will be used to start and end each game.
  • All games officiated by a certified NJ youth official.
  • Scores will be kept on each field by the field supervisor and reported to the headquarters tent
  • Coaches sign off on a score sheet after each game

US Lacrosse Rules will Apply

US Lacrosse rules will apply as it pertains to each age group with the following tournament-specific modifications:

  • Time outs will not be permitted unless there is an injury. During an injury timeout, the clock will run.
  • 8 meter free positions will be played out if foul occurs before time expires (at half or end of game). Player must go directly to goal, no pass and play ends with shot.
    • If the 8-meter is already in play when the game horn sounds, the game is done when the shot is complete. The shot is deemed complete when the ball enters the goal, any player gains possession, the ball goes out of bounds, the ball comes to  rest on the field of play or inside goal circle; or the ball touches the ground below the goal line extended.
  •  Alternate possession – the team listed first on the schedule receives the first alternate possessions.
    • After initial possession is awarded, the possession will then alternate
  • Yellow and Red Cards will be in effect.
    • 1 yellow card – player must sit out for 2 minutes, running clock
    • 2 yellow cards – player must sit out remaining of game, but can play next game
    • Red Card (Player) – player must sit out the remainder of the game and the next game
    • Red Card (Coach) – coach is required to leave for remainder of the game
  • 4 Goal differential rule is NOT in effect

3rd/4th Division Rules

  • 7v7 field players (does not count goalies – goalies make it 8v8).
  • Game will begin with a draw
  • 2 players must stay behind the restraining line (midfield line)
  • No checking, 3 second count for good defense
  • After a goal the ball will go to the center to the team that was scored upon. The setup will be the same as the four goal differential.
  • 1 v 1 defense outside of the CSA will be enforced
  • No self start

5th/6th Division Rules

Modified checking, and three second rule for good defense

7th/8th Division Rules

Will play US Lacrosse Level FC (full checking) rules when both coaches agree. Otherwise Level A rules (modified checking) will apply.

Overtime

There is no overtime except for championship/play-off games. Playoff games that are tied at the of regulation will go to a 3 minute sudden victory.
If teams are still tied after sudden victory, then Brave heart or coin toss will determine the winner to move forward. Both coaches must agree to
brave heart; otherwise coin toss will be used.

Disputes

All disputes will be settled by the Tournament Director and their decision will be final.

Scoring System to Determine Winners:

During bracket play, teams will be awarded points on the following basis:
Win = 3 Points Tie = 1 Point Loss = 0 Points

If there are 2 or more teams tied at the end of regulation play, the following criteria will be used to determine the play-off seeding:

  1. Head to Head – if no clear winner in 3-way tie, move to next criteria
  2. Goals Against
  3. Shut Outs
  4. Coin Toss

**If there are any forfeits, the average goals against in actual scheduled games play will be added to the total goals against to the team that won
by forfeit**

Forfeits count as an automatic win for the team that has not forfeited.

PLAY OFF PROCEDURES

Scoring System to Determine Winners:
During bracket play, teams will be awarded points on the following basis:
Win = 3 Points           Tie = 1 Point Loss = 0 Points

In the event that there are 2 or more teams tied at the end of regulation play, the following criteria will be used to determine the play-off seeding:

  1. Head to Head – if no clear winner in 3-way tie, move to next criteria
  2. Goals Against
  3. Shut Outs

3rd/4th Grade Age Group – 18 total teams
Teams were split into a grouping of 8 teams, and a grouping of 10 teams.

3rd/4th Grade Age Group RED- The group of 8 was then placed into pools  of 4 teams each. (Crocus and Daffodil)) After 3 games inter pool play, teams will be seeded for their 4th game.  The first-place teams will advance to the finals, and remaining teams will receive a consolation.

       Consolation:  4th place Crocus vs. 4th place Daffodil
       Consolation:  3rd place Crocus vs. 3rd place Daffodil
       Consolation:  2nd place Crocus vs. 2nd place Daffodil

        3rd/4th Grade Championship for Red:  1st Place Crocus vs. 1st Place Daffodil

3rd/4th Grade Age Group WHITE- The group of 10 teams was placed into pools of 5 games each (Iris and Tulip).  After 4 games inter pool play, the top teams from each pool moves to the final game.

       3rd/4th Grade Championship for White:  1st Place Iris vs. 1st Place Tulip

5th/6th Grade Age Group – 22 total teams
Teams were placed into 4 pools of 5 or 6  teams each. (Crocus, Daffodil, Lily, Tulip).  After 4 game inter pool play, the first-place teams advance to the semi-final rounds.  

       Semi Final 1:  1st Place Crocus vs. 1st Place Tulip
       Semi Final 2:  2nd Place Daffodil vs. 2nd Place Lily

       5th/6th Grade Championship Game:  Winner Semi Final 1 vs. Winner Semi Final 2

7th/8th Grade Age Group Red– 20 total teams
Teams were placed into 3 pools of 6, 6, & 8 teams each.  (Iris, Lily, Tulip). After 4 game inter pool play, the first and second place teams from Tulip advance to play off round.  Winner of Lily plays the winner of the Tulip play off game for a semi final game. The winner of Iris receives an automatic bye into championship game.  Winners of Lily/Tulip semi final will also advance to finals

       Play in Game:  1st Place Tulip vs. 2nd  Place Tulip
       Semi Final Game: Winner Tulip Play In vs. 1st Place Lily

       7th/8th Grade Red Championship Game:  1st Place Iris  vs. Winner Semi Final Game

7th/8th Grade Age Group White –12 total teams
Teams were placed into 2 pools of 6 teams each.  (Crocus, Daffodil). After 4 game inter pool play, the first-place teams advance to play off rounds.  Winners of the Crocus and Daffodil pool will advance to the final game

       7th/8th  Grade White Championship Game:  1st Place Crocus  vs. 1st Place Daffodil
